At Amazing Air Solutions in San Antonio, a service record described an air conditioner that stopped because of blocked condensate drainage. That record gave us something a generic service page could not: a specific problem, the technician's findings, the work selected and the operating check afterward.
We turned it into a customer-facing article and linked it to relevant service information. That is a concrete example of making a contractor's expertise easier to find and evaluate. The same question can arise in Google, an AI conversation or a discussion with the service team.
Search everywhere optimization means helping people find, understand and evaluate your business across the places they look for answers. For HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, restoration and other home-service companies, that can include search engines, Maps, videos, reviews and AI-generated answers.
The useful question is where your next customer needs better information, and whether your marketing gives it to them.
What search everywhere optimization adds to SEO
Traditional search engine optimization helps your website become discoverable in search engines. Local SEO supports visibility for customers looking for businesses in a particular area. Generative engine optimization, often called GEO, focuses on how your business is represented in AI-generated answers.
Search everywhere optimization brings those efforts into a broader plan. It asks whether your business gives a clear, credible answer wherever a relevant buyer encounters it. Adobe describes the framework as discovery across search engines, social platforms, AI assistants and other surfaces.
This is a marketing framework, not an official renaming of SEO. It also does not create an obligation to use every platform.
Google says the established SEO practices remain relevant for its AI Overviews and AI Mode, with no additional technical requirements or special optimizations necessary. Other AI services have their own systems. The practical foundation is still useful content, accessible pages and accurate information. Google's AI-search guidance
How we have applied this in our client work
Amazing Air: turn service records into answers customers need
For Amazing Air, we published five distinct articles based on anonymized service records. They covered drainage problems, a condensate pump repair, a new-homeowner evaluation, a ductwork estimate and an indoor-coil replacement estimate.
In the blocked-drain article, the technician's account explains that overflow protection had stopped the equipment. The recorded drainage work was followed by a successful operating check. We used that account to answer a homeowner's practical question: does a stopped AC automatically mean the system needs replacement?
The estimate stories serve a different purpose. The indoor-coil article explains what information was gathered for a labor quote and which scope and warranty questions to ask. We did not turn an estimate into a completed replacement or claim a comfort improvement that the record did not establish.
We connected these stories to the relevant repair and local service pages and included them in the site's sitemap. The result is specific, source-backed material customers can use to evaluate the company. The publication is complete; an increase in AI citations or inquiries from these articles has not yet been established.
Amazing Air: connect the question to the right service
We also improved the thermostat service page to explain model-specific compatibility, quote scope and questions about customer-supplied devices. We linked it to the existing new-homeowner evaluation story without suggesting that the evaluation had diagnosed a failed thermostat.
That connection matters. A customer can move from a service description to a relevant example, understand what is known and ask a better question before booking. The website gives people and search systems a more consistent account of the work.
AFCS: build the search foundation and measure what changes
For A Fireman's Chimney Sweep, our work included a website rebuild, service and service-area content, local search work and measurement. This gave the business a foundation for showing its services and helping local customers take the next step.
Google Search Console recorded a 365% increase in organic search clicks, comparing June 5 through July 4 with September 14 through October 13, 2026. Both are 30-day periods after the new site's launch. They are not an old-site versus new-site comparison, and seasonal demand can affect the difference.
That result is evidence of increased Google search clicks during the engagement. It is not a count of leads or booked jobs, and it does not establish growth in AI recommendations. Each part of the discovery plan needs its own evidence.
Choose the channels that serve the jobs you want
After 13 years running a home-service company, I approach this from the owner's side. The plan needs to reflect the work you want, the areas you serve and your team's capacity.
For a contractor whose website does not explain its core services or whose public hours are wrong, I would address those gaps before adding another social channel.
Start with three decisions:
- Pick a service and market. Choose a priority such as replacement estimates in an area you can reliably serve.
- Answer the customer's decision. Explain your process, what affects the recommendation, what the customer can expect and how to contact you.
- Choose a supporting channel. Add video, a listing update or another distribution route when it helps that audience evaluate the same decision.
Keep your Business Profile complete and accurate, including the services and hours that apply. Google describes local ranking through relevance, distance and prominence. Posting more often is not a substitute for those foundations. Google's local-ranking guidance
Our HVAC SEO approach puts search work in the context of the business. A broader discovery plan should preserve that discipline: each channel needs a purpose, an owner and a way to assess its contribution.
Measure the steps between visibility and booked work
A larger audience is useful when it creates opportunities with the right customers. Your reporting should show the stages separately.
| Stage | What to examine |
|---|---|
| Visibility | Relevant search impressions, listing visibility, video reach and mentions or citations within a defined AI sample. |
| Website visits | Organic clicks and visits attributed to listings, video links or identifiable AI referrals. |
| Inquiries | Actual calls and accepted forms, screened for service, location, spam and duplicates. |
| Booked work | Which inquiries became bookings, reconciled with the team's records. |
These numbers describe different things. An AI mention can have no link. A citation can produce no visit. A visit can produce no inquiry. One person can also discover you in several places before calling, so adding every platform's reported conversions can count the same opportunity more than once.
AI tracking tools measure the prompts and platforms they sample, not every private conversation. Referral analytics captures identifiable visits, not all AI influence. Customer feedback can add context, but it is not perfect attribution.
Marketing should be accountable for relevant demand and a working inquiry path. Answering calls, scheduling and closing the work also require coordination with the business. Record those stages so the owner can see where attention is needed.
A focused way to begin
Choose one priority service. Review its website page, Business Profile information and contact path. Find one completed job that demonstrates your expertise, confirm the facts and permissions, and turn it into a useful customer story.
Then select one supporting format and record the starting point. Look for relevant visits and inquiries over a defined period before expanding the plan.
You can use AI to organize notes or prepare an outline. A person who understands the work still needs to check the facts and approve what is published. Google specifically emphasizes accuracy, relevance and added value in AI-assisted content. Google's content guidance
Search everywhere optimization earns its place when it helps the right customer make a better-informed decision and reach your team. Rankings, leads and AI recommendations cannot be guaranteed.
